Generation One this isnt…. this is a beyond bad.. Rating:1 out of 5 stars first off i ACTUALLY watched these episodes cringing all the way… and i have to say straight up…THESE ARE TERRIBLE !! first off THIS is Not generation one its not even in the same league and its not even worthy of being called transformers…
sure they have prime and megatron…but its NOT the same the writers here did a hackjob, and paid no respect to the characters…prime and megatron are iconic characters and deserve MUCH better than this…the voice acting is pitiful they should have got peter cullen to reprise optimus primes voice..and the original voice actor for megatron ,
next off is the storylines, if you call these stories …they are pathetic…i see this is where the parents groups had a big hand in this..because the plots are so lame and lackluster..and WTF is with these dippy teens they added in this show?? they are either bratty or wimpy beyond belief…sure ,we had humans in the generation one show.. But spike, carly, and chip chase… were interesting and you actually cared about them.. and you gotta love sparkplug witwicky spikes dad…these human characters did a hell of a lot more than go ” oh god help!”
.this show is too cartoony…what i mean by that..its too light…can you imagine if they had the death of optimus prime here? i dont think the producers here would know how to handle it.let alone the parents…back in the day there was a backlast sure..i remember being sad when prime died but it was dramatic..and added to the story…same thing with the death of roy fokker in robotech..
both of those deaths had lasting impacts on future storylines..try that these days i mean, have you seen some of the other animation on tv today ?.. lets say spongebob, pokemon the brain starts to go soft already its shows like these that give animation a bad name..
everything about armada is bad… this is transformers lite in my opinion…its all fluff and nothing more…from the corny dialogue, bad animation(im glad marvel didnt decide to animate this one) and more…this show reeks…take my advice..You want to see a good transformers story? get the GENERATION ONE series dvds and transformers the movie..and sit back and enjoy and after that track down the marvel comics transformers series you’ll be glad you did, and use armada to give to somebody you dont like it could become the new “fruit cake”
Dear God Rating:1 out of 5 stars This show is horrible. I tried to give it a chance by watching the first 5 episodes, and even a few episodes later on in the series. It’s obvious that the show is geared towards very young kids; but as a young adult it destroyed my memories of the old Transformers show.
- The Kids: For some reason the makers of Armada thought that giant transforming robots weren’t enough to bring in a younger audience, so they introduce 3 teenagers that supposedly help Optimus and crew. They don’t. The kids are annoying, and honestly never really help in any way. They do state the obvious on a constant basis, as well as getting in the line-of-fire every episode.
- The Animation: While the animation gets better later in the series, this is just painful. The Transformers are too detailed, with at least three times the number of lines the original robots had. The result is that the animators don’t have enough time to create large action sequences, so we’re left with the kids talking for at least half of each episode. The action sequences themselves are boring and short.
- The Transformers: Optimus, Megatron, and Starscream are the only Transformers that carried over their original personailties and overall looks from the old show. As the series goes on more and more Transformers get added to the fray, but honestly, a lot of them are just butt-ugly. Purple, green, and gray color schemes come to mind.
Honestly, if you have kids that are around the age of 10, they’ll probably love the show, but anyone looking for a replacement to the old show needs to look somewhere else. The old show was corny, but this show might be one of the dumbest cartoons in history.
A little bit of old school with the new makes it awesome!!! Rating:5 out of 5 stars I grew up and now proudly own Transformers Gen 1 collection. With Armada it introduces the “minicons” very powerful little robots that add power to the already powerful Autobots and Decepticons. I did not finish watching this series, but am looking foward for season 1 part 2 box set. Higlights from this series, well I think the showing of old school transformers in a cameo way for example like Hound, Ramjet(I believe it was him) and numerous that I could not make out was excellent. also the introduction of Scavenger, Thrust, Star Saber, Sky Boom Shield, the powerlinx technique and many more fun things. It is good for your kids and for those guys my age that are whinning and complaining about it…get over it let your kids enjoy something new and stop trying to compare Generation 1 with all the other Transformers that come out. Good job to Rhino and stop taking too long and keep bringing more Transformers, perharps headmasters? beast wars neo?
Much Better than YOU think Rating:5 out of 5 stars You think you hate Armada, but you don’t. Armada starts off as, admittedly, a bad show, because it focuses way too much on the kids and moral issues. But the show REALLY starts getting good after Scavenger is introduced, and becomes great along the lines of G1 when Thrust and Jetfire are introduced. Most people who speak hatred for Armada because they only watched a couple of the first episodes, then gave up. After you’ve watched the episodes a couple of times, it becomes very entertaining. Here’s hoping Rhino gets off their lazy butts and brings out the next installment of Armada
Even good for teens Rating:4 out of 5 stars First of all, I would like to state that I grew up watching Transformers, from the end of the G2 series until Cybertron, so my review may be a bit biased. Transformers Armada and Energon I’m afraid I missed seeing as they came out, but having recently bought this set, I was able to catch myself up somewhat. In defiance to many other reviews, the animation was fairly well done, as well as the voice casting. The new voice actor for Starscream was a good fit for the character. And while I do have to say that I have missed a few of my old favorite characters, I haven’t yet seen a huge problem with those returning. All in all, except for a few times when the kids got extremely annoying, and the dialouge a little repetitive, this was a very good series, and I would give it a 4.75 but that number isn’t selectable. And now I shall wait rather impatiently for the second half of the series to come out in a collection available in America.
For fans of Mechas and Transformers Rating:4 out of 5 stars
As a prelude to “Transformers: Energon” Transformers Armada is set in the year 2010. From what I’ve seen on Cartoon network the show starts off a big weak in the beginning but grows stronger as it progresses. There are several Transformers missing in the show but that shouldn’t bother anyone since there is a choice between watching this and the older Transformers series. Anyway the plot is simple: The Autobots and Decepticons land on the earth and moon then set out to find these speech-imparied Transformers called “Mini-cons” which boost the fighting strength of any Transformer who processes them.
Along the way the Autobots befriend several Human children; Alexis, Rad, Carlos, Billy, and Fred who help them somewhat in their quest to the Mini-cons. However with the Decepticons around, Megatron and co. will prove that finding Minicons will be no easy task. Since I’ve only heard the English dub (because there is no Japanese dub despite what the descpition said) I can say this; The voice acting is well done (though sometimes it can be annoying).
There are many familiar voice actors in the series from Mainframe Bryan Drummond, David Kaye and Scott McNeil & Gary Chalk. Compared to Transformers Energon which now airing on CN, Armada is one of the better newer Transformers series.
Energon is lacking in the Animation and plot department. But since Transformers is much like Dragon Ball/Z it will not please everyone. For fans of Mechas and Transformers perhase DVDs (despite their out-of-order-ness). You won’t be disappointed. [a 4 out of 5]
Don’t listen to those terrible Armada-haters! Rating:5 out of 5 stars Okay, I admitt, I didn’t buy the DVDs…but I DID watch the series on TV when I was younger! I read these other reviews with the one-star rating and man was I furious! Everybody is always comparing it to Transformers G1! Well here’s a news flash for you all: I HATE TRANSFORMERS G1! IT’S STUPID! TRANSFORMERS ARMADA ROCKS AND I LOVE IT SO DON’T INSULT IT! I can’t STAND watching Transformers G1, I don’t know anything about any of the characters! At least Transformers Armada explains their characters well! I could name them all if you want! Autobots and Decepticons! And I also like Armada Starscream better than G1 Starscream! G1 Starscream was a terrible coward and a scoundrel! While Armada Starscream started off evil, then learned to be good and died an excellent hero! Another character I love is Hot Shot! I love how they have the characters develope into great Transformers, better than they were before. Armada was my childhood show, NOT G1! I’m only a teen right now! You people stop comparing it to G1 all the time! This show is one of the greatest shows I ever watched in my entire life! (besides Teen Titans and Sonic X)
Armada finally Rating:4 out of 5 stars I am rather pleased with this set, my only gripe is the way the DVD is set up in its cases. I find it a little confusing.
All and all Armada is good, but I am looking forward to the second half of this series.
Great for Old School TF fans Rating:4 out of 5 stars Armada Season 1 Part 1
The “Part 1″ Armada series is pretty good. No, it’s definately not g1, but the throwbacks to g1 make me appreciate the story more. Its good to see main characters like Prime, Megatron and Starscream as well. There’s probably only 6 characters on each of the side (Autobot and Decepticon) so its easier to get to know each character. The first part of the season is a little slow, and the kids can get annoying at times. But it is a kids show, so youll have to expect some “immature” stuff in there. There’s some “anime” style which seems strange at first as well, but it grows on you. The series gets so much better as it goes on, especially in Season 1 Part 2. Dont dismiss it as corny cuz you’d be surprised how good it actually gets.
